Welcome to the Children of Athoria Roleplay! We know there is a lot of information here! Don't be intimidated! It will all come together we promise! This page is about our Roots. How we got started, and where we have been influenced to go with new admins and our loyal members! Athoria has been around since May 2012-- and we are extremely proud of that!
Part I - The Opening 2012
Children of Athoria opened via Tumblr on May 25th, 2012. The original content was created by Z who explored Athoria first on a forum type platform. Later discovering the world of RPing on tumblr, he then moved Athoria to this platform and open its doors to all types of writers. Originally, Athoria was a small world with only one country (Athoria), several species and several biographies, with the option of bringing in an original character. It was then that Leesh (Admin Emery) joined Athoria on opening day as Emery Frost, a rouge vampire. Z and Leesh quickly became best friends, constantly writing and developing a mega story based in Athoria. Together, with the help of so many people in the game, Athoria quickly became one of the most popular roleplays on tumblr. Everyone wanted to get their hands in Athoria.

Part II - New Vision
Eventually Leesh left the roleplay in February of 2013 due to creative differences between the administrators and Z. At that time, Z also handed the roleplay over to Liza, who was a loyal member and current co-admin. For several months, Liza ran the group and kept Athoria afloat, keeping to its traditions and growing expansion. However, Z returned to Athoria and took back the roleplay, closing it temporarily and bringing on Leesh to co-admin.
In the summer of 2013 Athoria reopened its doors to the public of tumblr after increasing the general timeline of Athoria by fifty years, along with adding several new species and clans, and tons more biographies for people to choose from. Athoria shifted greatly in this time, going from a casual and indirect literate roleplay to something more massive. The admins had high expectations for their members, increasing the auditioning process and only bringing in the best members and writers to post on the dashboard. Because of this, Athoria saw a heavy increase of amazing and talented writers, all eager to dive into heavier plotting and more diverse characters.
The loyalty of members never waived; people stayed with Athoria for another year and a half as the admins explored many outlets and events and plots with members. Needless to say, Athoria was a hotspot for writers of tumblr that wanted something more from their writing, and for writers that wanted to write something meaningful.
Part III - Expanding
In the summer of 2014, Athoria launched its first sister site: Children of England. It was originally inspired by Leesh who had always wanted to expand Athoria into other countries and realms by making them playable locations with canon aspects. Bringing on extremely loyal member Tasha was just the next step, as her creative ideas and enthusiastic attitude was just what England needed. The sister team went to work developing Children of England; new biographies, new plots, new myths and creatures, new everything, in hopes of gathering attention for both Athoria and England as a connected roleplay (with slightly different elements). Unfortunately, Children of England was not as successful as they had hoped. Though a handful of members took up second or third characters in England, it did not attract many outside roleplayers on tumblr.
Still, the sister team did not give up hope. They kept England alive, alongside a thriving Athoria, for another year.
Part IV - Season 4
In the summer of 2015, the roleplay was handed over to Leesh. Unfortunately Z was unable to maintain the group due to personal reasons and thankfully, instead of allowing the legacy of Athoria to sink into the tumblr depths of unsuccessful roleplays, Leesh took over with the attempt at bringing Athoria back to life. The roleplay was closed immediately for a revamp. Leesh brought on loyal member Shantel (who had joined around the original opening date as well) as a new co-admin with intense interpretations of opposing realms and species as well as keeping her sister Tasha as a co-admin and webmaster. Together, the trio worked on completely new aspects to Athoria to keep up with current events and excitement on tumblr.
England was combined into Athoria as one roleplay, expanding the universe greatly. By doing this, members now had an active and encouraged chance to play both countries fluently without confusion from two separate roleplays. Tons of new biographies were added to the game, along with new locations, myths and creatures, the whole nine yards. Athoria’s timeline as a whole was again increased by fifty years, and the admins decided to keep canon elements from past revamps and eras of Athoria canon in the history (including the total reign of King Christopher Athor and the Great Viking Battle). A timeline of events was created to give members a visual idea of how the plains and species came to be. New rulers were set in place with new missions and ideas.
But mostly importantly, due to Tasha’s amazing webskills, Athoria’s content was switched to an actual website, making navigation and accessibility easy and comfortable to use. Though the tumblr website is still used to promote and submit and ask questions, the actual website is filled beautifully with extensive information regarding gameplay and the go-to for all information. With this key element, Athoria stands out among tumblr platforms as one of the most literate and advanced roleplays to date.
Overall, Season Four of Athoria was a huge success. Following the reign of the mad Queen Natalia, members were able to experience recruitment into war and fighting for their freedom and country. After a year and a half, Queen Natalia destroyed the country entirely which ended our season in February of 2017.

Part V - NOW!
For Season Five, we wanted to take Children of Athoria to a whole new level. Normally following the typical general increase of the eras by fifty years, we decided to do just the opposite this time around...and go back in time. Never has Children of Athoria been able to canonly write in historic Athoria prior to the First Supernatural War, which has always been a large milestone in the game. Though there has always been tons of flashback threads written by immortal creatures, these events were technically just speculation. We want to give members the opportunity to explore Athoria in a time where supernaturals and supernatural abilities are common place, as well as exploring the country without a total monarchy rule. Additionally with going back in time, this eliminated a handful of species that had not yet been introduced (demons, darklings, vampire/wolf hybrids, forsaken, and phantoms), and has given us the opportunity to feel the roots of Athoria following its most prominent moment --
The Franco Rebellion.
Admin Emery, Admin Cassiel and Admin Raven worked behind the scenes on Season Five while continuing to close up Season Four of Athoria that way there would not be a large gap during the relaunch. We are proud of where Athoria is today, and we hope that you will join us in this great adventure!
